You're in the right place if you...
- feel overwhelmed by Spanish accent marks.
- have tried different techniques and/or learned the archaic rules (e.g., esdrújula, aguda, etc.), but still have trouble applying them.
- have wondered if there is a simpler way. (Yes! There is!)
- are tired of getting "half" the support that is typically geared toward monolingual English-language classrooms, curriculum, and resources.
- do "double" the work as a dual-language teacher.
- spend countless hours searching for high-quality dual-language support and resources.

"I enjoyed the simplicity of it all."

"I love that even though this was a virtual workshop, Kim still made the effort to get to know us as individuals and ensured we were following along and keeping up with her. She made the lessons very personal and it helped that we created the diagram together using words we gathered. It is very evident that Kim is passionate about helping others be and feel successful with the language. … Thank you for your time and commitment to making the accents not so scary. :) Glad I was able to join you for the bonus workshop day!"

– K-5 Dual Language Instructional Coach
Bilingual 3rd-grade teacher:
BEFORE the workshop: " I was scared to teach writing to my students because I was afraid of being and teaching them wrongly. It didn't feel natural to have to google words to make sure I had the accents down correctly.
AFTER the workshop: "I'm able to apply what I learned in real life with my students and in my personal life. I am much more cautious about pronunciation and ensuring the accent marks are in the right place even in text messages."
Aspiring Bilingual/ Dual-Language Teacher (studying for her Spanish proficiency exams)
BEFORE the workshop: "Super confused!"
AFTER the workshop: "Much, much better!"
Dual-Language 4th-grade teacher:
BEFORE the workshop: "Native speaker. I knew my rules."
AFTER the workshop: "You opened my eyes to a new way of teaching it."
We will understand the WHY of accent marks!
We will use everyday Spanish and English words in this workshop!
We will use what you already know about Spanish and play with natural pronunciation patterns.
Hi! I'm Kim--founder & CEO of Pocket Profe by Kim Kennedy, Ph.D.
I help bilingual and dual-language educators who spend countless hours searching for high-quality dual-language support and resources transform their teaching so that everyone feels engaged, fulfilled, and successful through online courses, a supportive community, and coaching.
A little bit about me...
After 20+ years as a university professor in Education and a bilingual classroom teacher (and a Dual Language mom), I started Pocket Profe so I could work directly with bilingual, dual language, and Spanish-Immersion educators. I loved so many aspects of being a professor—from teaching (of course!) to research and from community engagement to supervising clinical teachers in the field.
However, my favorite part has always been supporting future, new, and seasoned Dual Language teachers like you to see your strengths as an educator and an advocate for your students, their families, and their home languages, cultures, and formas de ser.
With this in mind, I have customized the Spanish Accent Marks Made Easy Workshop to support you and your students to tackle multisyllabic words in Spanish with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
❓ What if I'm not sure if I can make it to all the sessions?
It's ok. Ideally, you can of course. But if you can't, recorded sessions will be uploaded into the Teachable course site along with other resources.
Please remember that my #1 goal is for you to feel confident in your abilities to master acentos ortográficos (and yes, I just sang "ortoGRAficos" to figure out/ remember where the accent mark went). Therefore, you are welcome to attend any of my Acentos Workshops in the future at NO charge if you want to have a refresher or review something. Just zap me an email and let me know that you want to attend, and I'll send you the Zoom link.
❓ How long will I have access to that content?
Lifetime access.
❓ What is your refund policy?

No questions asked. Just email me before midnight on Day #2 of the Workshop for a full refund. This is my guarantee to you.

The "Acentos" Workshop currently has June dates available!
You'll only regret it if you don't join us!
This "Acentos" Workshop is for anyone wanting to improve their and/or their students' Spanish writing regarding accent marks, including:
👏Native-Spanish speakers
👏Non-native speakers of Spanish
👏Masters of translanguaging (also known as code-switching, Spanglish, Tex-Mex, etc.) where you draw on your knowledge of Spanish and English at different times and in different contexts
👏Heritage speakers of Spanish
We will:
✅ use Real-life Examples, Everyday Words, and a Simple Flowchart
✅ say goodbye to agonizing over whether or not a multisyllabic word needs an accent mark or not
✅ say goodbye to guessing
✅ say goodbye to complicated rules and terms!
✅ have some fun while we're at it!
Ready to get metalinguistic with me? We will observe, analyze, and play with Spanish in its "natural habitat" to notice how natural pronunciation patterns live in our bilingual 🧠brains and come out of our bilingual 🗣mouths. We'll:
✅ learn tips and tricks for "exagerando la pronunciación de palabras para identificar la sílaba fuerte" and
✅ use a simple flowchart to see if a word is "conformista" or "rebelde."
You'll love it and your students will love it even more! After all, developing oracy and metalinguistic awareness are major goals in bilingual, dual language, and Spanish-immersion classroom, ¿no? So let's have fun as we play and analyze words and their pronunciations together. And the funny thing is: we'll spend most of our time talking about why most words 🚫DON'T🚫 have accent marks (instead of memorizing outdated top-down rules).
Plus there is a free bonus workshop re: "qué hacer con las vocales vecinas" where we'll observe the behavior of vowels in their natural habitat (our bilingual 🧠brains and bilingual 🗣mouths) to see about:
✅ hiatos,
✅ diptongos,
✅ triptongos,
✅ y cómo decidir si llevan tildes o no.
